The Minnesota River Valley is filled with historic sites. The Scott County Historical Society maintains two such sites, an Gothic Revival Style Episcopal church in Belle Plaine constructed in 1868 and the Stans House next to the Museum in Shakopee. A third site is the S. B. Strait House, owned and maintained by the DNR, in the Minnesota River Recreation Area
